IOSH Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health Leadership and Management

No. You’re assessed through three IOSH-set assignments — a written report, a recorded presentation, and a live presentation with assessor questioning — all based on your own workplace, not exam scenarios.

IOSH doesn’t set a mandatory entry qualification, but assignments assume you already understand core OSH principles at Level 3 standard — typically the IOSH Level 3 Certificate, an equivalent qualification, or comparable practical HSE experience.

All learning and assessment is in English. IOSH expects a level broadly equivalent to IELTS 7.0, since assignment-writing and live presentations are conducted in English. Bilingual Arabic/English learner support is available.

The qualification is graded Pass/Refer. If you don’t pass first time, you can resubmit within your registration period — there’s no need to retake the whole qualification.

Both sit at a similar level, but IOSH Level 6 is entirely work-based with no written exam, while NEBOSH IDip combines case-study assessments with a practical project. IOSH Level 6 leads directly to CertIOSH; NEBOSH IDip is recognised toward Graduate/Chartered IOSH and IIRSM membership.

It meets the academic requirement for Certified Member of IOSH (CertIOSH), and opens the pathway toward Chartered Member (CMIOSH) through IOSH’s Initial Professional Development process.
